Allegan County Fair

A couple weeks ago my friend, Sandy and I decided to take our girls to the fair. It was Izzy’s first time. Eloise is about to turn 3 in October. The last time Izzy was at the fair was mid summer and she was so afraid of all of the animals. This time, her reaction was much different. She was running through the barns like a mad woman babbling up a storm, laughing and so curious. I was a little afraid she was going to check out some cow poop, but thankfully she only got close and didn’t attempt to touch it! As we wandered around we headed toward the kiddie rides. I wasn’t sure if Izzy was big enough yet to ride anything. Sandy went to the ticket booth and checked things out. There were 3 rides Izzy could ride. We got some tickets and decided to see how things went. Eloise and Izzy hopped on their first ride. For some reason, this felt like such a huge milestone to me. I feel like she must be so grown up to be on a fair ride! Eloise and Izzy started their way around the track in a large oversized mouse cart. As they hit a bump Izzy toppled to one side and Eloise promptly put her arm around her and hugged her tight. Sandy and I just both stood, looking at each other, there were so many things to say and nothing to say at all. I felt like crying because my girl was getting so big and I felt like crying because it should be her little girl. Sandy lost her daughter at the beginning of summer and her and Izzy were the same age. My heart just broke again as the fair ride kept going around.
